EPAL announces repairer partnership with Demes

Strengthening its quality assurance, The European Pallet Association Ltd. (EPAL) has announced its partnership with newly approved UK EPAL repairer, Demes.

As the largest open pallet pool in the in the world, EPAL contains some 350million pallets serviced from over 1,200 locations worldwide and has over 60million new pallets added every year. Only carefully selected and certificated repairers are allowed to undertake reparation work, and the materials used must meet pre-set standards.

Demes is part of DS Smith Plastics and one of Europe's leading providers of returnable packaging pooling solutions. Demes’ comprehensive Deposit System ensures a quality pallet management service, through which it can purchase and sell pallets across a European network.

Demes is now one of only two UK companies that can guarantee the integrity of the pallet, as an approved EPAL repairer. Its European sites are already approved and currently repair 8,000 EPAL pallets per month. The UK sites repair more than 2 million pallets and have now completed a comprehensive process and technology assessment to ensure they meet the EPAL repairer standards and requirements.

Paul Davidson, Chief Executive for the EPAL UK and Ireland operations said, "We are delighted to announce our alliance with Demes as the company is renowned for quality and performance and these are fundamental to achieve the EPAL mark of approval. Together with Demes, we recognise that it is vital to ensure the quality of materials and repairs is maintained throughout the life of the pallet."
