Demes expands in Great Britain
Demes Logistics, which became affiliated to the listed British DS Smith Plc in 1999 expands its European activities further. After recently investing €1.7 million for a new pallet depot and a new washing plant at the German location in Stadtlohn, Demes has now taken over a pad business of 1.1 million plastic layer pads and a high-tech washing plant situated in Leeds. Plastic layer pads for the canned foods industry can also be handled there.
The purchased facilities have been successfully integrated into the Demes Depot Network in England. Meanwhile, more than 50 workers have found employment there. Demes can also account for a new business contract of annually one million plastic pads from Ardagh Glass UK to be delivered to Anheuser-Busch.
The new washing plant in Leeds enhances the already existing Demes Washing Plants located in the German town of Stadtlohn (Demes Headquarter), in the English town of Harlow and since May 2007 the established branch in the French town of Meyzieu near Lyon. In Meyzieu an annual amount of five million plastic layer pads are “washed, dried and formed” for the new French customer Saint Gobain Emballage (SGE).
