Demes Solves A Cleaning Problem

Cleaning open fluted layer pads has always been a problem because of the way water and dirt can get trapped in the flutes. Not any more. Demes, one of Europe’s leading providers of returnable packaging management services, has invested in new technology which enables its customers to meet even higher standards of hygiene.

The new system works like this:

  • The pads are given a robust wash in the normal manner and stacked automatically

  • A conveyor then moves the stack into a centifruge

  • As the centifruge spins, the water and trapped dirt is flushed out of the flutes

  • Next the pads are moved automatically onto a special belt where the outer surfaces of each pad are individually dried

  • Finally, the dry pads are restacked - once again, automatically

The new system offers many advantages, not least the fact that the spinning and drying of pads is integrated seamlessly into the whole cleaning process.

Demes has installed the new technology in its depot in Achern, near Strasbourg where it is already in great demand from customers in France. The glass industry in particular makes heavy use of this type of open, fluted layer pad.

Walter Ahn, Logistics Manager, said "The new system is proving very popular with our customers. If any company would like to take advantage of this advanced cleaning process they should call +49 2563 9302-13 and we will be delighted to help."
